Job Description
As a Senior Program Manager under the supervision of the COO, you will organise and coordinate programs. You will provide strategic guidance to teams and project managers in ways that promote the organisation’s culture and vision. You will also oversee the progress of operations. The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader and will have experience in managing staff of different disciplines and backgrounds to produce results in a timely manner. You will also be able to develop efficient strategies and tactics to ensure that all programs deliver the desirable outcome.
You will
- Develop and monitor clear and effective country programme strategies and set quarterly priorities for the team that supports the realisation of the organisation’s mission
- Ensure smooth & timely implementation of the high-quality country programme strategies, annual work plan according to approved budgets and manage high quality delivery of services
- Understand and oversee the political situation in programmes you run, and is able to navigate and leverage it to ensure the organisation has the buy-in for the realisation of the programmes
- Build effective partnerships so that the organisation only implements where it has a comparative advantage
- Maintain a high quality team with the required competences needed to ensure that the country programme(s) is constantly developing and anticipating trends, needs, opportunities & threats
- Manage staff performance on high quality outputs and foster professional & personal development in line with the team’s strategic goals. Regularly hold (team and individual) meetings with staff members to monitor work progress and wellbeing
- Lead external profiling and representation of the Programme in countries / regions
- Manage relations with external stakeholders (government, institutions, donor, partners) with tact and care in order to safeguard HilL’s successful execution of projects and future funding possibilities
- Coordinates periodic audits & evaluations to assess the impact of the department & mitigates risks with the MEL Lead.
You have
- At least 6 years’ of progressively responsible programme management experience with international professionals and preferably in the development sector
- A Master degree or equivalent in Law, International Development, Political Science, International Relations, Anthropology or related field
- Prior experience working on donor-funded international development programmes required, preferably gained in Justice Sector
- Experience managing budgets, finances, and forecasting
- Working knowledge of program/project management software (Basecamp, MS Project etc.) is a strong advantage
- Experience of working in political environments, with political actors and with professional groups who have their own jargon and mindsets and experience in developing shared, understandable language with them so that others can be brought into the effort as well
- A vast operational experience in Africa, and the Middle East
- An excellent leadership, organisational, strategic and analytical skills; and are an excellent communicator
- A high aptitude for identifying, establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- The availability to travel to join the field‐based teams and stakeholders
- Are fluent in both English and French, both oral and written (B2-C1)
